Teresa's Story
Life
Been from coast to coast but settled in Mason County about 18 years ago. Have one daughter, five grandchildren, three greatgrandchildren....Yeah, I hate to let you know that people like me did reproduce...I was married for a long time but have been divorced for 6 years. My oldest granddaughter and her family live with me. My father (the man who worked at the radio tower transmitter which is now across from the new apartments by Smith Field) passed away in 7/84. My mother sold her house which was almost across from Vinson and has a mobile home on my farm. Yeah, I have 74 acres of beautiful peace. Sorry, once again to disappoint a lot of people who probably thought I would have overdosed or ended up in a mental health facility...jokes on you...I am very respectable and was once referred to by the Board of Education as a Pillar of the Community...I bet there are a lot of teachers spinning in their graves...I have been employed by the state for 36 years and am close to retirement. Plan to keep this place and buy a place at the beach....I'll keep ya posted and you can come to visit...
School
Well, I went to business school so I could hurry and get off welfare. ...Expand for more
The school was crappy but the piece of paper worked.
Workplace
Started at Job Service in Huntington summer of '73 and moved to Point Pleasant in winter '91. Now Job Service and Unemployment are here. 6/08 they moved us to a smaller office. Now, I am the manager of the Charleston Workforce office. Yeah, I'm the witch at the unemployment office. No one ever says they talked to the nice lady at the unemployment office.
I wonder sometimes how people remember me. How do you remember me?
I always wanted to be a movie star when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a psycho idea. As it turns out, they were right. But I have done some mighty fine acting all my life.
My favorite way to relax is playing with my greatgrandson, Johnathon and his baby sister, Alora.
I went to the beach last summer (twice) so I could take all my grandkids to see their other family. I really enjoyed it. I know my daughter was happy to meet some cousins and see her father, grandmother, and uncles. Too bad she did not get to see everyone. But I know she was happy to see uncle Mike who came and played the guitar and sang some old hippie songs. She and her children knew them all!
